The Dark Sky Rangers are a group of individuals who advocate preserving our skies from over lighting that affects wildlife and causes the loss of our pristine dark skies in the Ozark regions of Arkansas, Missouri, and parts of Oklahoma.
Watch the Dark Sky video below about how bright light affects the ability to see objects clearly in the night sky, and steps that are needed to reduce the effect of over lighting on astronomers, and the local wildlife who also suffer from over lighting.

The rangers are a youth and young adult group that act as ASO Dark Sky Ambassadors and Stewards to help us preserve the Ozark Natural Skies. They hand out literature about light pollution, help at events, help members, give directions and act as event host.
Dark Sky Rangers go through a basic training (boot camp) program at a wildernes camp with their parents. A group of trainers will lecture to the group about Dark Sky initiatives and how to inform the public. They will also be trained to be expert "Citizen Astronomers" and able to teach the public on how to use a telescope and view the planets and stars.
